Hey guys! I’m back with another great and easy DIY craft! I made this with scrap wood I had on hand and the only thing I bought was the art you see, which by the way was only $1! The print says “do more of what makes you happy” and I found it in the Dollar Spot at Target and it comes with 2 sheets. If you guys remember I purchased this from Target last week and I had no clue what to do with it but I figured let me just get it and I’ll figure it out! Does that happen to you?, you see something and you say to yourself let me just get this and I’ll figure it out! Well, sometimes it’s years later and I still have no clue what to do with it so I was very excited when it took me 2 days to figure it out!?
Just in case you want to see the other goodies I was able to score from the Dollar Spot, read here: Target Dollar Spot Haul and for all the other great stuff they have, read here: Target Dollar Spot Finds and here: Target Dollar Spot Finds May 2017 and also here: Mothers Day Gifts From Target Dollar Spot.
SUPPLIES NEEDED:
(1) 1×8 Print
(1) 1×2 @ 8 ft long
Scrapbook Paper
Stain
Sawtooth Hanger
Superglue
Hot Glue Gun & Glue Sticks
Hammer & Nails
Wood Glue
Sander or Sand Paper
Miter Saw
CUT LIST:
(2) 1×2 @ 10.25 inches long
(2) 1×2 @ 8.5 inches long
STEP 1:
Make all your cuts, don’t worry if you don’t have a saw, the guys at Home Depot or Lowes will cut it for you.
STEP 2:
Once all your cuts are made, add the stain and wait about 5 minutes before rubbing it off, I used Varathane in Briarsmoke.
STEP 3:
While you’re waiting on the stain, add scrapbook paper to the back of your 8×10 print with hot glue, this step is completely optional, I only did this because I wanted it to be a little sturdier! As you can see below the scrapbook paper is bigger than the print, it really doesn’t matter that it is bigger because you will not see the scrapbook paper!
STEP 4:
Now construct your box using wood glue and nails.
By now your frame should look like this:
STEP 5:
Add your print to the frame using hot glue.
STEP 6:
Add your sawtooth hanger, the sawtooth hangers I use are push ins but I like to add superglue just to make sure it stays put! You can find the sawtooth hangers here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00BTL0V4Y/ref=sr_ph_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1494200420&sr=sr-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=sawtooth+hangers+100+zinc
STEP 7:
Time to hang it on the wall! Just mark on your wall where you want to this and use a hammer and nail to hang. If you don’t want holes in your walls use command strips.
