DIY Chalk Paint With Plaster of Paris
This DIY Chalk Paint With Plaster of Paris will take about 3 minutes to make and cost about $15 in supplies.
I will say that I have tried the store bought chalk paint and do prefer that but I’m also too cheap to buy it!☺️
I have included all the supplies you need below. If you are buying the plaster of Paris in store, you can find it in the painting aisle at Home Depot, hope that helps!

STEP 1:
Measure 1/4 cup of Plaster of Paris and pour into your jar. I like using Mason Jars because it already has the measurements on the jar! Also it won’t dry out as quickly, Plaster of Paris is like spackle it will dry up and harden really fast in the Plastic containers, so if you want to make a big batch or you are not going to use it right away definitely use a glass jar for this!
STEP 2:
Measure 1/4 cup of warm water and pour it into the jar and mix thoroughly with the paint stirrer stick.
STEP 3:
Add your latex paint to the mixture of water and Plaster of Paris and mix really well.
That’s it! Now you have homemade chalk paint for about $10.00! The Plaster of Paris costs $7 for the carton and latex paint will cost $3 if you buy a sample size, brand name chalk paint costs $35 for a pint! So if you are painting a large piece of furniture the costs really add up, also the great thing with chalk paint is you don’t have to prime!
