11 Tips Every Costco Shopper Needs To Know
Hey guys, I’m back with more great tips to shopping at Costco, you need to read this if you are a Costco shopper! Some of these tips you may already know and some might be new to you, either way it’s worth checking out! While you are here, read this: Top 10 Items To Buy At Costco. I will also be doing Costco coupons monthly from now on, so make sure you check back for that!
If you don’t have a Costco membership but are considering purchasing a membership, read below.
1. Refill Your Ink Cartridges At Costco
You can drop off your ink cartridges at the Costco Photo Center for them to refill within an hour. If I was to buy both a color and black ink cartridge at Target, it would cost me $40, but to drop it off at Costco costs me $22! Also, some months Costco will offer $2.00 off one refill, usually with a limit of 2 offers. Prices start at $7.49 – $10.49, depending on brand, color, and model number. Costco will only refill HP, Canon, Epson, and Brother ink cartridges, to check if Costco will take your ink cartridge, click here: http://costcoinkjetrefill.com/pricing.
2. Look For The Asterisk
If there is an item you want from Costco, always look in the upper right hand corner of the price tag for an asterisk. The asterisk means it’s all they have left and they may not restock again until next season or altogether. Here is what the price tag will look like:
3. There Is A Method To Costco’s Pricing
If you a regular Costco shopper, you might have noticed all their prices end in $0.99, like in the picture above, but did you know if the item is on clearance it ends in $0.97? Yes, Costco does have clearances, they just don’t advertise it, you have to be on the look out for this!
4. Your Costco Membership Is Valid World Wide
As long as you have a valid Costco membership, you can use it anywhere in the world where there is a Costco!
5. Buy Gift Cards From Costco
Gift Cards are always discounted at Costco, my daughter is a HUGE American Girl Doll fan so last year before buying from the American Girl website I went to Costco and bought gift cards, it was $100 worth of gift cards for $80! That is a huge savings especially for AG dolls, every parent of an AG fan knows what I mean! Also, AG will only take 10 gift cards per online transaction, if you have more than 10 cards, you need to call them to place your order. I’m telling you this just in case other companies do have restrictions on how many gift cards you can redeem in one transaction, make sure you check first.
6. No Need To Clip Coupons
With the exception of the Optometry and Photo departments, you do not need to clip the coupons. All the coupons in store are instant savings. If you do need to use a coupon at the Optometry or Photo department and don’t have the coupon book, just download the Costco App and show the cashier your Costco App and they will take the discount off for you.
7. Buy Electronics From Costco
If you are in the market for a new smart TV or computer, head to Costco first. Costco extends the manufacturer warranties for 2 years at no additional charge to you. Most manufacturers only offer 1 year and let’s be realistic, most electronics don’t break within a year unless there really is a defect with the product! Best Buy makes so much money selling warranties, because they charge an arm and a leg for it, why pay for it when you can get it for free?!
8. Costco Offers Price Adjustments
Every month Costco has new instant savings, but there a few days out of a month where there are no savings, so let’s say you bought that brand new smart TV on a day there was no savings, and 2 days later you noticed it was $500 off. Go to customer service and ask for a price adjustment, you do not need the product or receipt, they can pull up anything with your membership card! Now you are $500 richer!
9. You Can Use Formula Checks At Costco
This is a great tip for all the parents out there! If you have a baby or know anyone who has a baby, you know how costly formula can get, Costco will accept the formula checks you receive in the mail. They accept the checks because it is not a coupon, it is a form of payment. You might need to tell the cashier to process it as a check, I have had that problem in the past.
10. Costco Has An Amazing Return Policy
Costco will pretty much take anything back (with the exception of electronics which is 90 days). If you are not satisfied with your purchase for any reason they will refund you the full amount without a receipt. Even with the electronics at 90 days, it is still great because a lot of places will not allow you to return them. You can even return your membership if you are not satisfied with it, that is how great their return policy is!
11. Use Mobile Apps For More Savings
Even though you cannot use manufacturer coupons at Costco you can still use rebate apps for more savings. Just take a picture of your receipt and upload it to any of the rebate apps to get money back, you can use Ibotta, Checkout 51, and MobiSave. For more about these apps, read here: Money Saving Apps.
