1. Try It Out
You can shop Costco online to “try” it out, but you will have to pay a 5% surcharge, and you cannot buy Member Only savings items, even if you cannot buy the member only items, it’s a great way to see what kind of savings you can get.
2. Buy A Costco Cash Card
If you know someone who is a member at Costco, have that person buy you a Costco Cash Card so you don’t have to pay for the surcharge fees if you are using the card online, and you can also use the card in store. You do not have to be a member to use the Costco Cash Card, but you do have to be a member to buy the card and reload it.
3. Free Food Samples
You are still entitled to the perks of the free food offerings at Costco even if you are not a member! You can just tell the guy at the door you want to get lunch at food court, which brings me to the next tip!
4. Get A Cheap Lunch
Where else can you get a hot dog with a free refill soda for $1.50?! Non members are allowed to eat at the food court with the perks of members prices.
5. Buy Prescriptions At Costco
Anyone can fill a prescription at Costco, a pharmacy is a pharmacy! Costco is known to be one of the few places to have the lowest prescription drug prices in the country! Make sure you check their hours before heading out the door, the Costco by me closes its pharmacy on Sundays.
6. Eye Exams
You do not need to be a member to see the Optometrist but you do need to be a member to buy glasses or lenses, which is where tip #2 comes in handy! Years ago when I needed any eye exam for the DMV, I went to Costco for any eye exam and it only cost $5! You do need to make an appointment and they tend to fill up fast because of their low prices.
7. Buy Alcohol
Some states do have laws saying you can purchase alcohol from warehouse clubs without having a membership. The states that allow you to do this are: AZ, CA, CT, DE, HI, IN, MA, MI, MN, NY, TX, and VT.
8. Get Immunizations
You can get all your shots here even if you are not a member, just check with your insurance company to see how much you will have to pay.
These are all great perks extended to Costco Members and Non Members! I do believe it’s worth shelling out the cash for a years membership and if you don’t like it, you can get your membership refunded. Yes, Costco is that good that they will refund you a membership if you are unsatisfied!
