How To Get A Free Turkey For Thanksgiving
Hey guys, I’m back with another great money saving tip and it’s how to get a free turkey for Thanksgiving! I know, we’re still recouping from our kids’ sugar highs, but I have Thanksgiving on my mind, I feel like it just crept on us and there’s only 3 weeks left til Thanksgiving! I’m hosting Thanksgiving this year and I need to start hauling and stocking up on the food now! It is so expensive for a turkey, have you ever checked the prices when they are not in season? Turkeys are about $50-$60!!! I also do get a 25 pound turkey because I love having leftovers and not worry about what I’m going to feed my family after I just entertained for a house full of people!
SHOP-RITE
This is my absolute go to for my free turkey! Every year they offer a free turkey if you spend $400 on groceries. $400 sounds like a lot but this is BEFORE you use manufacturer coupons, but NOT before Shop-Rite digital coupons, so start stocking up on the canned goods now and you have until November 23rd to redeem your free turkey! You do not have to spend $400 in one transaction, if you have a Shop-Rite Card, they will keep track of your purchases. For Shop rite’s coupon policy, read here: Shoprite Coupon Policy. If you don’t want a turkey, here is a list of what else you can get for free:
ShopRite All Natural Frozen Turkey any size up to 21 lbs OR Save $1.49/lb off any other fresh, frozen or Kosher turkey (up to 21 lbs)
Cooks Shank ½ Smoked Ham OR 5 lb Hormel Black Label Canned Ham OR Save $1.99/lb off any Cook’s Spiral Sliced Ham, Boneless Ham or any other Smoked Ham
ShopRite Grade “A” or Shady Brook Frozen Turkey Breast 6-9 lb avg OR $1.99/lb off any other fresh or frozen turkey breast or Kosher turkey breast
Kosher Frozen Roasting Chicken 5 lb average
Stouffers 90-96 oz Frozen Lasagna, any variety
Tofurky 56 oz (Frozen Meat item)
Kosher Turkey $1.49/lb off up to 21 lbs
ACME:
Acme is offering a free Jenni-O turkey between 10-22 pounds if you spend $100 in one transaction, if you don’t want a whole turkey, you can opt for the turkey breast instead!
SAFEWAY:
If you spend $100 in one transaction then you can score a free turkey under 16 pounds, if you spend over $150 you can get a turkey larger than 16 pounds.
Weis Market:
If you spend $250 at Weis you can get a free Weis turkey up to 20 pounds.
FARE-WAY:
Spend $50 here and you can receive a free turkey between 10-14 pounds.
I hope this list helps! Generally by now but you should see turkeys going for about $0.59 per pound, if you cannot get a free turkey do not spend more than $0.59! All the stores want your business they will be offering great sales! Also, keep in mind the past few years, every November Target offers gift cards for a $10 Target Gift Card if you spend $50 or more on your grocery and beverage purchase. You can also use multiple coupons if you do them in desperate transactions, check back on Saturdays for the Sunday Cupon Preview so you will know if they are offering the gift card that week and you can stock up on the Sunday papers!
