Thanksgiving Hacks and Tips
Hey guys, I’m back with some great time saving tips for Thanksgiving! These are my must know Thanksgiving Hacks and Tips! Can you believe it’s only a week away?! I feel like the school year just started and now we got thrown right into the Holidays. I swear by these tips every Thanksgiving, although this year I decided to just keep it with my hubby and kids, instead of hosting both sides of the family! I’ve always wanted to that, and having 5 kids is definitely a great excuse not to entertain! Anyways, these tips are also great for any event you decide to host!
- Peel, dice and chop all your veggies the day before. I then put everything I need into ziplocks and throw it in the fridge.
2. For Mashed Potatoes peel the potatoes the day before and put it in a pot of really cold water and let that sit overnight in the fridge, they won’t turn brown as long as they are in cold water. Season the turkey the day before so come Turkey day all you have to do is take it out 2 hours before cooking it, which brings me to my next tip!
3. If you accidentally forgot to defrost your turkey, run it under continuous cold water, do not run it under hot water – it’ll cook the turkey! If you listened to tip number 3, you won’t be freaking out Thanksgiving Day!
4. Plate all your appetizers the day before so you’re not scrambling around when people are over trying to get all the food put out!
5. Make the stock the day before – the last thing I want is another HUGE pot on the stove!
6. Use Wundra flour to make gravy, it makes a huge difference with clumps, it is basically sifted flour, you will be so happy you have it!
7. Know all your serving platters and label them!
8. The weekend before Thanksgiving weekend start taking up all your dishes and washing them and don’t forget to defrost the turkey!
9. Keep Thanksgiving week light ! I am done shopping for Thanksgiving by Monday night and I always grab a pot pie from Costco for our Thanksgiving Eve dinner, believe me you’ll thank me.
10. If you’re having a house full of people and they want to bring food try to tell them nicely you don’t want anything that requires oven cooking!
11. While we’re on the subject of ovens, scrub that oven clean the weekend before, you don’t want smoke alarms going off! I wouldn’t know anything about that!
12. Get all your paper goods set up the day before, paper goods are always something I forget!
13. Make the cornbread batter the day before but don’t cook it until the Turkey comes out.
14. Make the pies the day before and while you’re eating dinner, put the pies in the oven.
15. Make sure you have coffee, I also always forget coffee because I have a Keurig. I’m way too cheap to be using pods on a house full of people!
16. While you’re doing this, listen to Christmas Pandora, it’ll make everything more enjoyable!
