Aren’t these ornaments great?! They are so cute, you can even add them to your presents for a more personalized look! These ornaments are so customizable, you can make them with whatever you have on hand. I purchased the wood slices with chalkboard paint already on them and snowflakes years ago from Targets Dollar Spor, and they have just been sitting in a draw collecting dust! I finally found a use for them and I LOVE the way they turned out! I also added essential oils on them so they smell festive too!
Amazon does sell the wood slices with chalkboard paint already on, but they were a little pricey, it was 6 wood slices for $30, eek! You can find blank wood slices here: Amazon. which are much cheaper and just use black acrylic paint, which is cheaper than chalkboard paint! Hobby Lobby and Michaels also have them in stock. Or you can leave them blank and just add the snowflakes! You can find similar snowflakes here: Amazon .
SUPPLIES NEEDED:
Wood Slices (here)
Chalkboard Paint or Black Acrylic Paint
Wood Snowflakes (here)
Hot Glue Gun and Glue Sticks
Orange Essential Oil (here)
Step 1:
If you have to paint your wood slices, paint first and let them dry for about 10 minutes. Adhere the snowflakes to the ornaments with hot glue.
Step 2:
After the snowflakes are glued on, add 2-3 drops of orange essential oil to each ornament. I love the way the orange smells, it reminds me of Mrs Meyers seasonal line! You could also use a pine essential oil for a more Christmas tree smell! To keep them smelling fresh, add more essential oils every 5 days.
Step 3:
Hang on your tree! How easy was that?! You now have a great decor item that can be made in 5 minutes!
You can read here: DIY Reed Diffuser for what I did with the orange essential oil, that was Day 1 of my Countdown to Christmas series!
