DIY Lazy Susan Tray

Hey guys, I’m back with another easy and great fall craft that can be made in an afternoon on the cheap!  I love the way this DIY Lazy Susan Tray turned out! I used vinyl peel and stick letters that I found from the Dollar Spot, you can see that post here. If you have a Cricut or a Silhouette you can make a similar design without buying these letters. I do have both a Cricut and a Silhouette but when I saw these stickers in the Dollar Spot I wanted to grab them because I can’t resist anything in the Dollar Spot! 😉 That is definitely one of my biggest weaknesses!

If you can’t find the stickers in the Dollar Spot, Hobby Lobby or Michaels sell similar stickers in the paper crafting aisles. Make sure you check out Hobby Lobby’s Sale Schedule, and Top 10 Tips to Saving Money at Michaels, before you go shopping for your craft supplies! I have links provided to Brickseek.com below for the vinyl stickers.

I have been wanting to make a lazy susan tray for awhile and I LOVE anything fall so I decided on this tray with these stickers. The best part is if I get tired of this look I can easily swap out the stickers and change them with each season.

SUPPLIES NEEDED:

Round Wood (here)

Wood Stain – Dark Walnut (here)

Foam Paint Brush (here)

Pulls (here)

Lazy Susan Bracket (here)

Vinyl Peel & Stick Stickers (here)

Pencil

Drill

Peel & Stick Pre-Cut Vinyl $3.00
DPCI NUMBER: 234 02 0054

Step 1:

Stain the wood and rub off quickly with a dry paper towel, if you leave the stain on too long the wood will have a sticky feel to it. I left my stain on for about 3 minutes before I rubbed it off. I did buy my wood from Hobby Lobby but sometimes you can find a similar size at Home Depot or Lowe’s for cheaper. Unfortunately both those stores did not have any round wood boards left in stock so I went to Hobby Lobby for this, with a coupon I spent $14 for the board.

Step 2:

Once the wood is fully dry, mark the bottom of your board where the lazy susan bracket will go. Pre drill the holes you need for the bracket, and make sure you don’t pre drill all the way through. I only drilled about 1/4 of the way, going VERY slow with the drill. Do not attach the bracket yet, you will have a spinning board when you are attaching your pulls!

Step 3:

Now mark where your pulls will go and drill those holes, the pulls come with 2 different size screws you can use. I used the longer screws for this. The short screws were too short and the long screws did stick out a little bit on the bottom of the board but it really didn’t matter because the lazy susan bracket is longer than the pull screws.

Step 4:

Put your stickers on the board and now you can attach your lazy susan bracket. I did add furniture felt pads onto the bottom of the bracket to help protect the table.

Step 5:

Admire your handiwork! There are so many different ways you can customize this tray, you can use paint instead of stain, you can use different pulls, you can use all different kinds of stencils that you find in the craft store, the possibilities are endless. I would love to see what you all come up with! Make sure you share the pics!

If you loved this as much as I did please share this with your family and friends!
