DIY Halloween Witch Sign
I’m back with another easy Cricut project! This DIY Halloween Witch Sign can be made in an afternoon.
Are you looking for an easy project to spruce up your Halloween decor on a budget? This Witch Sign is a great beginner project and it’s also easy on the wallet! I used a sign that was already painted and assembled from Hobby Lobby that I got on a 40% discount.
I made this with my Cricut explore and Dollar Tree Supplies. If you don’t own a Cricut you could use stickers from Dollar Tree or buy stencils from Amazon or any craft store. However, you do not need a Cricut for this project! All I’m doing is cutting some vinyl, and the witch is a blank cut out I found at Dollar Tree – it was the inspiration for this project!
If you’re thinking about purchasing a Cricut, I highly recommend it ONLY if you’re going to use it! It’s pretty amazing what Cricuts can do! I’ve used it for many other crafts that I haven’t posted but I really should! 😀
I didn’t want to spend much money since it’s just for Halloween and will be up for 1 month. Also, I have a lot more fun making my own things, and I really wanted to try out the Dollar Tree vinyl!

How to Install A Font in Design Space
Design Space comes with a lot of different fonts to choose from but I chose to use this one from FontBundles.net
Download the font that you want to use. It will usually come in a zipped folder. Tip: I move the folder onto my Desktop so I can find it easier.
Unzip the font file folder. Now double click on the individual font file. When the file is open right click and scroll down to Install.
Once the font is installed, open Cricut Design Space. (If Design Space is already open, you may need to close it and reopen it.)
Using Design Space
When sizing your word, you want to unlock the lock on top, you can see that in the image below. If you don’t unlock the lock, your image or words will get stretched out. Also depending on what font you choose, you might have to add height or length to the word for it to look right.
Now to access your font in Design Space, you must go to System. You can see that in the image below.
Prepping Your Vinyl
To prepare your vinyl, lay it shiny side down onto the cutting mat. Cricut should have an arrow blinking, press that button, then press Go.
Once it’s done cutting, unload your mat and start weeding the vinyl. I like to start with any letters that have holes inside first, make sure you get those out!
Before you lay out the vinyl, glue the witch on with hot glue and place your vinyl around the witch.
Once all your vinyl is cut, place your transfer tape over the vinyl and scrape hard about 3 times across. Carefully peel away the transfer tape to make sure the vinyl is sticking to the tape.
When the vinyl is on the tape, lay out the tape and scrape again against the wood. For an in depth tutorial on tape transfer, read here.
