DIY Christmas Reverse Canvas Sign
25 Days of Christmas, Day 7
Hey guys, I’m back with another easy and craft idea! This DIY Christmas Reverse Canvas Sign was made using supplies from Dollar Tree, and a Cricut Joy. If you do not have a Cricut you can use stencils instead, or you can just check out my Resource Library for free Christmas prints that you can frame. I love making crafts like this, it is so easy and fun to make! The canvases are 4×6 and I found them in the craft section at Dollar Tree. I did originally get 6 but my dog chewed up 3 of the canvases so I only made 3!

I removed the canvas from the frame using an exacto knife, I just cut along the edges and ripped them off the frame. I left the staples intact because they are getting covered anyways!
I chose to leave my canvases white but you can paint them any color you want. Now this step is VERY important because there is something about canvas that vinyl will not adhere to. Spray will spray adhesive and let that dry for about an hour, if you are painting your canvas use the spray adhesive after you paint.
While the adhesive was drying, I stained my frames with weathered gray stain, I let that dry for about 5 minutes before rubbing off the stain. I then did a dry brush with white acrylic paint.
Once everything is done drying, I printed the files on permanent vinyl and stuck the transfer tape on top of the vinyl. I used the scraper tool to make sure everything transfered. Slowly peel away the transfer tape, if part of the black words are still on the vinyl push the vinyl back down and scrape again.
I am in love with this little machine, it is so easy to use! If you have been thinking about getting a Cricut – you will have no regrets!
To attach the canvas back to the wood frame I used hot glue, and trimmed off the excess canvas with an xacto knife.
